The famous Evening Primrose oil in its purest form – cold pressed & rich in GLA’s and Vitamin E
Most women know Evening Primrose oil, and many have taken it as a supplement in times of hormonal stress or skin troubles, due to its high vitamin E & GLA (gama linoleic acid) content. GLA is an Omega 6 fatty acid that plays an essential role in the production of the hormones – prostaglandins, which regulate many body functions such as blood pressure and the reproductive cycle.
From my personal research and experience, a deficiency in essential fatty acids can cause a variety of skin and hair problems, from scaling, dry skin, to weakened capillaries near the surface of the skin and worsening of conditions such as eczema, acne or psoriasis.
In addition to taking it internally (in capsule form), using evening primrose oil as a massage oil on the outside will help irritated skin recover better and quicker. Used externally on the skin, this anti-inflammatory & antioxidant oil helps to maintain the skin cells’ health and elasticity, making it most suitable in skin care for inflamed skin conditions such as eczema & psoriasis.
Evening primrose oil is an excellent oil for face care, especially for dry or mature skin. It can also be used as a body massage oil, especially on stretch mark damaged parts.
In my pregnancy days, I often came across references for perinneal massage using evening primrose oil. Back then, I didn’t know you could buy the pure oil, and I must admit I tried squeezing some out of a capsule but found it completely impossible and never tried the massage at all. But certainly it is worth a try if you are expecting and are into natural pregnancy & birth.
